Helen Hanft worked in a variety of genres and built up a diverse and reputable career. Early on in her acting career, Hanft landed roles in various films, including the dramedy "Next Stop, Greenwich Village" (1976) with Lenny Baker, the comedy "Manhattan" (1979) with Woody Allen and the Michael Ontkean comedic drama "Willie & Phil" (1980). She also appeared in "Stardust Memories" (1980) with Woody Allen, "Arthur" (1981) and the Beau Bridges comedy "Honky Tonk Freeway" (1981). She continued to act in productions like "Moonstruck" (1987), the Eddie Murphy smash hit comedy "Coming to America" (1988) and the Corey Haim action picture "License to Drive" (1988). Recently, she tackled roles in the Shirley MacLaine comedic adaptation "Used People" (1992), the comedy adventure "North" (1994) with Elijah Wood and "I.Q." (1994) with Meg Ryan. She also appeared in the dramatic adaptation "The Associate" (1996) with Whoopi Goldberg and "Trick" (1999) with Christian Campbell. Hanft last acted in "The New Tenants" (2010).
