Veteran U.S. politician Henry Kissinger is recovering in hospital after undergoing heart surgery.
The Nobel Peace Prize winner underwent an operation at a medical centre in New York City on Tuesday (15Jul14) to replace an aortic valve.
The surgery was a success and the 91 year old is “resting comfortably,” according to a statement from the New York-Presbyterian Hospital.

Kissinger, who served as Secretary of State for U.S. Presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford, previously underwent a triple coronary bypass operation in 1982 and an angioplasty procedure in 2005.
