Hollywood celebrities are set to stun the 2021 BRIT Awards tonight

Hollywood’s biggest stars will join together in London this evening for the 2021 BRIT Awards and we’re feeling pretty HollyGOOD about it! The event will be hosted by actor and comedian Jack Whitehall and will be broadcasted from The O2 on ITV and YouTube.

While most of the awards categories focus on British artists like Dua Lipa, Arlo Parks, and Yungblud, artists from across the globe will also be recognized at this live music event. Nominees for International Male Solo Artist include Bruce Springsteen, Burna Boy, Childish Gambino, Tame Impala, and The Weeknd. Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Cardi B, Miley Cyrus, and Taylor Swift all battle for the International Female Solo Artist award.

Taylor Swift to receive Global Icon award

Taylor Swift has had an enormous year this past year and at the rate she has been putting out music, you’d never think we were in the middle of a global pandemic. For these reasons, the BRITs announced on Monday that Taylor would be receiving the Global Icon Award.

The BRITs describes this award as “the highest accolade given and is reserved for truly exceptional artists.” The organization also notes that Taylor Swift is the first female artist to receive this award, as she is the UK’s top-selling artist of 2021 to date. Previous recipients of this award include Elton John, Robbie Williams, and David Bowie

The BRITs confirmed Monday that Taylor Swift would be at the ceremony in person to accept this prestigious award.

We can’t wait!

Get ready for stellar performances

The BRITs created a lineup of Hollywood’s hottest artists to perform at tonight’s big show.

Off the heels of their latest release, “Highest Power,” Coldplay will be performing from a pontoon on the River Thames near The O2. According to the organization, tonight will mark four years since Coldplay’s last BRITs performance.

After Dua Lipa’s GRAMMY performance, we can anticipate that her set tonight will be nothing short of electrifying. The 25-year-old singer took the world by storm this year with her latest single “Levitating” and we are so excited to see what she has in store for the BRITs stage. Of her performance, Dua Lipa said, “It’s going to be truly special to be back on stage in the UK.”

Olivia Rodrigo has given us two hit singles this year and will be releasing her debut album SOUR later this month. According to the BRITs, Olivia’s song “driver’s license” held the top spot on the UK Official Singles Chart for nine consecutive weeks, which made it the longest-running No. 1 debut single in the UK in 15 years. Olivia Rodrigo’s latest single, “deja vu” has a very different vibe than “driver’s license,” so we look forward to hearing which she’ll sing tonight.

The Weeknd wowed us all with his spectacular Super Bowl performance earlier this year, and tonight he will hit the stage both as a nominee and performer. We can expect to hear one of his many massive hits off of his latest album After Hours. According to the BRITs, “Blinding Lights” was the UK’s biggest track of 2020. We’re eager to see what he brings to The O2 tonight!

Fans anticipate artist interactions

With the pandemic limiting how many artists can be at awards shows and social distancing guidelines limiting their contact with one another, fans are dying to see their favorite Hollywood stars interacting. It seems that fans of Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo might get their wish, as both are set to attend the awards ceremony.

The two artists have had a loving relationship online since the release of Olivia Rodrigo’s hit single “driver’s license” in January. Olivia Rodrigo has been open about how much she loves Taylor Swift’s music and songwriting and has cited her as one of her musical inspirations.

Following the release of “driver’s license,” Olivia Rodrigo posted a photo on Instagram of her next to Taylor Swift on the iTunes charts, to which Taylor replied, “I say that’s my baby and I’m really proud.”
