The Hannibal legend is in final negotiations to play an evil sorcerer in Arabian Nights, about a young commander – played by The Last Song star Liam – who forms an alliance with Sinbad, Ali Baba and the Genie from the magic lamp to save Queen Scheherazade.
Hopkins was recently forced to deny reports he had clashed with Chris Hemsworth on the set of comic book adaptation Thor, insisting he had “the time of (his) life” shooting the superhero epic.
He added, “I’m proud to say that Thor has been one of the great experiences of my career.”

Thor is scheduled for release next year (11).
