Howard Petrie worked in a variety of genres and built up a diverse and reputable career. Petrie kickstarted his acting career in various films such as the crime picture "Walk Softly, Stranger" (1950) with Joseph Cotten, the Errol Flynn action picture "Rocky Mountain" (1950) and "No Questions Asked" (1951) with Barry Sullivan. He also appeared in "Cattle Drive" (1951), the historical film "The Golden Horde" (1951) with Ann Blyth and the James Stewart western "Bend of the River" (1952). His passion for acting continued to his roles in projects like the adventure "The Wild North" (1952) with Stewart Granger, the Jeff Chandler action movie "Red Ball Express" (1952) and "Pony Soldier" (1952) with Tyrone Power. He also appeared in the historical love story "The Veils of Bagdad" (1953) with Victor Mature. Toward the end of his career, he tackled roles in the Bob Mathias biopic "The Bob Mathias Story" (1954), "Sign of the Pagan" (1954) and the western "Rage at Dawn" (1955) with Randolph Scott. He also appeared in "How to Be Very, Very Popular" (1955) with Betty Grable and the Barbara Stanwyck western "The Maverick Queen" (1956).
