Husker Du drummer Grant Hart dies – report

Drummer Grant Hart from influential punk band Husker Du has died, according to reports.
The musician, vocalist and songwriter passed away at the age of 56 following a battle with cancer, according to a report published by Variety.com on Thursday morning (14Sep17).
The band or its representatives have yet to confirm the news, but they posted a photograph of Hart on the Husker Du Facebook page on Thursday without a caption.
Grant formed Husker Du in Minnesota with bandmates Bob Mould and Greg Norton in 1979, first starting out as a hardcore punk band before crossing over into alternative rock.
Before their split in the late ’80s, they released six albums, including Everything Falls Apart, Zen Arcade and New Day Rising. Hart subsequently went on to form alternative rock trio Nova Mob, where he moved to vocals and guitar, before focusing on his solo career in the 90s. His last solo studio album, The Argument, was released in 2013.
Husker Du sparked reunion rumours after launching an official website and Facebook page in late 2015. They were due to release Savage Young Du, a boxset of their early recordings and performances, on 10 November.
