Biography

Ike Turner was a singer-songwriter known for his stage presence and pleasing melodies. Turner worked on a variety of projects during his early entertainment career, including "Bull Durham" (1988) starring Kevin Costner, "Gimme Shelter" (1970) and "Iron Eagle" with Louis Gossett Jr. (1986). He also contributed to "Sound of the City: London 1964-73" with The Rolling Stones (1981), "Superstars in Film Concert" with Mick Jagger (1971) and "Taking Off" (1971). In the eighties and the nineties, Turner devoted his time to various credits, such as "Ready, Steady, Go!" (Disney, 1989-1990), "Tina Turner: Going Home" (Disney, 1992-93) and "What's Love Got to Do With It" (1993) starring Angela Bassett. He also worked on "The Slums of Beverly Hills" (1998). Turner's music was also featured in the Sandra Bullock comedy sequel "Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous" (2005), the dramatic sports film "Glory Road" (2006) with Josh Lucas and the dramatic adaptation "Something Borrowed" (2011) with Ginnifer Goodwin. His music was also featured in the Eddie Murphy comedy "A Thousand Words" (2012). Turner was most recently credited in "The Wrecking Crew" (2015). Turner passed away in December 2007 at the age of 76.
