Biography

Claire's earliest roles were in film, including "The Music Lovers" (1971) with Richard Chamberlain, "Savage Messiah" (1972) with Dorothy Tutin and the Roger Daltrey biopic "Lisztomania" (1976). Claire also appeared in "Phoelix" (1979), "Flash Gordon" (1980) and "Hussy" (1980) with Helen Mirren. Claire kept working in film throughout the eighties, starring in the "Shock Treatment" (1981) film Cliff De Young, the Nigel Terry period drama "Caravaggio" (1986) and the Glenda Jackson dramatic adaptation "Salome's Last Dance" (1988). Claire also appeared in the Amanda Donohoe horror movie "The Lair of the White Worm" (1988) and the Timothy Dalton comedy "Hawks" (1989). Nearing the end of Claire's career, Claire continued to act in "Wilt" (1990), the dramedy "Billy Elliot" (2000) with Jamie Bell and the comedic fantasy "Hotel Splendide" (2000) with Toni Collette. Claire also was featured in the TV movie "Prisoner of Honor" (HBO, 1991-92). Claire last acted in the dramatic period piece "The Man Who Cried" (2001) with Christina Ricci. Claire passed away in June 2005.
