Biography

Irwin Kostal worked in a variety of genres and built up a diverse and reputable career. Kostal worked on a variety of projects during his early entertainment career, including "The Garry Moore Show" (CBS, 1949-1967) and "Your Show of Shows" (NBC, 1949-1954). In the sixties and the seventies, Kostal devoted his time to various credits, such as "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" (1966), "Brigadoon" (ABC, 1966-67) and "Half a Sixpence" (1968) starring Tommy Steele. Kostal had a number of different projects under his belt in the seventies, including "Charlotte's Web" with Debbie Reynolds (1973), "The Blue Bird" (1976) starring Elizabeth Taylor, "Pete's Dragon" with Sean Marshall (1977) and "The Magic of Lassie" (1978). Kostal last provided music for "Mickey's Christmas Carol" (1988). Irwin Kostal passed away in November 1994 at the age of 83.
