Actor Jack Riley is best known as the irritable Elliot Carlin of "The Bob Newhart Show. " However he's best recognized aurally as the voice of Stu Pickles of "Rugrats" and "All Grown Up!" cartoon hits. After college and a stint in the Army, Riley found his way into radio, and became a popular personality in his home town, where he and his comedy partner Jeff Baxter would entertain with "The Baxter & Riley Show." In the '60s, Riley moved to Los Angeles, where his old pal, Tim Conway, helped him find work. He made his film debut in 1962 with a small role in the romance film "Days of Wine and Roses." Four years later, he made his way onto television with a recurring role on the short-lived comedy series "Occasional Wife." He went on to snag guest roles on the military comedies "Gomer Pyle, United StatesM.C.," "Hogan's Heroes," and the sitcom"Mary Tyler Moore" before landing work as a series regular on the sitcom "Newhart." His work as the cantankerous neighbor made him a household name, and a popular guest star on comedy series throughout the '70s, '80s, and '90s. In 1990, he expanded into voice work with a role in the animated series"Garfield and Friends." The next year he was cast on "Rugrats" as the klutzy toy inventor and father, Stu. The cartoon proved popular and Riley's gone on to voice Stu for more than 50 episodes and three movies.
