Jackie Evancho chasing President Donald Trump for transgender summit

Teenage opera star Jackie Evancho is calling for U.S. President Donald Trump to grant her a meeting this week (begs27Mar17) to discuss transgender rights.
The former America’s Got Talent singer, who performed at the controversial Republican’s inauguration in January (17), was among the stars left outraged last month (Feb17) by the new leader’s decision to remove the federal guidelines that allowed transgender school students to use the bathroom that matches their gender identity.
Jackie, whose sister Juliet was born a boy named Jacob, appealed to Trump via Twitter to reconsider the ruling and grant her and her sibling the chance to discuss the issue in person.
“@realDonaldTrump u gave me the honor 2 sing at your inauguration,” the singer wrote. “Pls give me & my sis the honor 2 meet with u 2 talk #transgender rights (sic).”
At the time, White House press secretary Sean Spicer claimed Trump would be willing to sit down with the Evanchos, but with no specific date scheduled, Jackie is now trying to make the meeting happen herself while she is in Washington, D.C.
Reaching out to Trump once more on Monday (27Mar17), she tweeted, “@realDonaldTrump – THANK YOU for being open to meeting with me to discuss #trans rights. I’ll be in #DC on 3/30 & 3/31. Can we meet?”.
Trump has yet to respond to the proposed get-together.
The bathroom issue is particularly important for Juliet, who transitioned when she was 17, as she is currently locked in a legal battle with officials at her Pine-Richland High School in Pennsylvania, after boardmembers passed a policy in September (16) stating that all pupils had to use the toilets corresponding with the gender on their birth certificate.
