Biography

Throughout his Hollywood career, James Cotton acted in a wide variety of dramatic films. Cotton worked on a variety of projects during his early entertainment career, including"Hubert Sumlin: Living the Blues" (1988), "Michael" (1996) starring John Travolta and "Nash Bridges" (CBS, 1995-2001). He also contributed to "Psych-Out" (1968) and "Romuald et Juliette" (1990). He continued to act in productions like the John Travolta box office smash fantastical drama "Phenomenon" (1996), the drama "Daughters" (1997) with Robin Huntington and "Down Time" (2001). He also appeared in the TV special "The Mississippi: River of Song" (PBS, 1998-99). He also worked in television around this time, including a part on "The Division" (Lifetime, 2000-04). In his more recent career, he continued to act in the Bruce Ramsay drama "Exploding Oedipus" (2001) and "About Cherry" (2012) with Ashley Hinshaw. He held additional roles in television including a part on "Murder in the First" (TNT, 2013-16). Cotton also contributed music to the dramatic adaptation "Taking Woodstock" (2009) with Demetri Martin. Most recently, Cotton produced the comedy "Powder Room" (2013) with Sheridan Smith.
