Biography

Actress Jan Arvan appeared in a variety of films over the course of her Hollywood career. Arvan started her acting career landing roles in films, such as the comedy "Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy" (1955) with Bud Abbott, "The Cobweb" (1955) and "20 Million Miles to Earth" (1957). She also appeared in the dramatic adventure "Istanbul" (1957) with Errol Flynn. She worked in television in her early acting career as well, including parts on "The Red Skelton Show" (1951-1971), "The Donald O'Connor Show" (NBC, 1954-56) and "Zorro" (ABC, 1957-59). She continued to act in productions like "Some Came Running" (1958) with Frank Sinatra, "Noose For a Gunman" (1960) and "Island of Love" (1963) with Robert Preston. She also appeared in the comedy adaptation "The Brass Bottle" (1964) with Tony Randall and the drama "The Sandpiper" (1965) with Elizabeth Taylor. She also worked in television around this time, including a part on "It's About Time" (CBS, 1966-67). She held additional roles in television including a part on "Maude" (CBS, 1972-78). Additionally, she appeared on the television special "A Couple of Dons" (NBC, 1973-74). Arvan more recently acted in the Marie-France Pisier drama "The Other Side of Midnight" (1977). Arvan passed away in May 1979 at the age of 66.
