Jana Kramer ‘acknowledges’ estranged husband’s efforts to redeem himself

Actress/singer Jana Kramer is keeping tight-lipped about possible plans to reunite with her estranged husband Mike Caussin, amid allegations of his infidelity.
The former One Tree Hill star split from American footballer Caussin in August (16) after 15 months of marriage, and it was subsequently revealed the athlete had entered a rehabilitation centre for undisclosed reasons.
Jana, who is currently competing on U.S. reality show Dancing With the Stars, has been candid about the pain she suffered as a result of his betrayal during recent interviews, prompting Mike, 29, to issue a formal apology to his wife, the mother of his nine-month-old daughter Jolie, for his behaviour.
A statement issued to People last week (ends07Oct16) read: “I acknowledge that certain actions and behaviors have caused issues in my marriage and I am deeply sorry for the pain I have caused Jana.”
Now the 32-year-old has addressed his apology in a new chat with ABC News, and although she stops short of any talk of a reunion, she does hint that there may be hope for the couple.
“He is doing all the work that he’s supposed to be doing right now, and I acknowledge that and I see that,” said Jana, who was still wearing her wedding ring for the U.S. TV interview.
Regardless of the future of her marriage, Jana insisted creating a “happy household” for her little girl is her priority, and dealing with her personal troubles as a mum has only strengthened her self-confidence.
She concluded, “I am so much stronger than I ever thought was possible. I am worthy of a great love and I know that I am truly enough, just me.”
Elsewhere in the ABC News discussion, an emotional Jana recounts her harrowing first marriage to Michael Gambino, who tried to kill her in a violent domestic dispute in 2005.
He was found guilty of attempted murder and sentenced to six years in prison, and just two years after his 2010 release, he committed suicide.
Jana confesses she was initially relieved at the news of his death, because she had been living in fear ever since he walked free.
“I felt bad because my first feeling was relief that he was gone, that I didn’t have to worry about him anymore,” she explained. “I felt sad that I couldn’t change his life.”
She was also briefly married to actor Johnathon Schaech, before tying the knot with Caussin in the spring of 2015.
