Jane Fonda pledges to stop buying clothes

Jane Fonda has shut down her clothing budget, insisting the red coat she has been wearing for her weekly climate change protests in Washington, D.C., was her last buy.

The actress has vowed to lead the way as a sustainability guru, and that means she won’t be adding to her wardrobe.

Speaking to activists on Friday (November 8, 2019) at her latest Capital Hill protest, she said, ”You see this coat? I needed something red and I went out and found this coat on sale. This is the last article of clothing that I will ever buy.”

Jane previously pledged to cut back on her shopping habits, revealing young eco-warrior Greta Thunberg made her rethink how she spends her money.

“She has also made me think a lot about consumerism,” Fonda explained. “So when I talk to people and say, ‘We don’t really need to keep shopping. We shouldn’t look to shopping for our identity. We don’t need more stuff’, I have to walk the talk. So I’m not buying any more clothes.”
