Actor Jason Priestley has signed on to direct a biopic based on the life of tragic comedian Phil Hartman.
The former Beverly Hills, 90210 star will helm Nice Guy Phil, a project which has been in development for several years with the co-operation of Hartman’s estate.
Veronica Mars and Big Time Rush alum Daran Norris has been tapped to play the late comedian, who died in 1998.
The former Saturday Night Live star was shot and killed by his wife Brynn while he slept in their home, and she committed suicide several hours later.
Production is scheduled to begin next summer (16).
