Jeff Dowd suing UCLA hospital over mother’s death

Hollywood producer Jeff Dowd is taking legal action against a California hospital over the death of his mother. Dowd, who famously inspired the Coen brothers’ much-loved character Jeffrey ‘The Dude’ Lebowski in cult film The Big Lebowski, is suing UCLA Medical Center hospital for $10 million (£6.25 million), alleging poor communication among some staff contributed to his mother’s death, according to TMZ.com.
The lawsuit states Dowd’s elderly mother was hospitalised in March last year (13) battling bronchitis but died within a month of being admitted after suffering with internal bleeding, dehydration and a stroke.
