Bonus Trivia

.

While president of CBS Entertainment in the early 1990s, Sagansky became the highest paid network entertainment executive in this history of TV. His bonuses were tied to the network's ratings; for 1993 Sagansky took home in $7.3 million in bonuses alone. (From NEW YORK NEWSDAY, 4/15/94)

.

Speaking about his career and the world of TV, Sagansky remarked, "I always wanted to be a television executive, and this is a case where it was better than I could have expected. It's more fun. It's more stimulating. I mean, when you think of a TV executive, it's like the lowest form of life! Isn't it? A TV executive is somebody that is pandering to the lowest public taste. But I guess when I finally did it, I thought, Boy, this is an unbelievable charge. It's like the fastest business in the world! What's amazing about our business is that it's only 40 years old! Which means I've been alive for more than three quarters of its history!" (Quoted in NEW YORK magazine, December 3, 1990)
