Jenna Coleman confirms she will be recast in Victoria

Jenna Coleman has confirmed that she will be recast in her role as Queen Victoria in British TV show Victoria.
There has been widespread speculation as to whether the hit series will follow in the footsteps of Netflix’s The Crown and recast its stars with older actors as the story progresses.
Speaking at a press event for the show’s imminent third season, 32-year-old Coleman confirmed the casting chatter.
“There’s going to come a point where I have to (be recast). The idea I’ll be playing Victoria meeting Abdul is not really possible,” she admitted, according to The Daily Mail, referencing an elderly Queen Victoria’s friendship with her Indian Muslim servant Abdul Karim. “But it’s going to be a hard thing to give over, especially as she gets older.
“(Recasting) brings a lot of challenges and it’s hard as an actor – when you’ve taken it so far it’s hard to give it up.”
When asked who she would like to see take the reins, the Doctor Who star cited Helena Bonham Carter and Olivia Colman as her top choices, but lamented that they’re probably both too busy with season three of The Crown for the role.
“Emily Watson would be amazing, so would Imelda Staunton,” she considered.
