Jennifer Ellison feared for son’s life after choking incident

British actress Jennifer Ellison was terrified when her newborn son started choking and struggling for breath in her arms. The Phantom of the Opera star gave birth to Charlie through Caesarean section last month (Sep14), and she has now recalled the horrifying moment he started gasping and choking as she fed him.
Ellison tells British magazine OK!, “He took a deep breath and started choking. He started coughing, like he couldn’t get something out of his throat, then mucus started coming out of his nose and he couldn’t breathe. I screamed for mum who was upstairs with the boys, she came down and I was going: ‘He’s stopped breathing!’
“She phoned 999 and it became the most chaotic thing ever. I’m so relived he’s okay now. It was the scariest thing that’s ever happened to me. I thought he was dead. The whole thing went on for about ten minutes but it felt like hours.”
The baby was kept in hospital overnight to monitor his breathing as surgeons feared he had swallowed some mucus. He had a chest X-ray the following day and was allowed home after being given the all-clear.
