Jennifer Hudson pays tribute to Aretha Franklin on second anniversary of her death

Jennifer Hudson honored Aretha Franklin on the second anniversary of the music legend’s passing.

The 38-year-old Oscar-winning singer/actress, who will be playing the Queen of Soul in the upcoming biopic Respect, took to Instagram on Sunday (August 16, 2020) to remember the late star.

“Something tells me that you are walking around heaven singing all day !” Jennifer wrote, along with a black and white photo of Aretha. “I know u got your mansion, far more than just standing room ! Singing in the heavenly choir !

“Still Can’t believe we lost you 2 years ago today,” the I Remember Me star added. “I truly miss hearing from you !”

Aretha passed away in 2018 at age 76 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. Respect, also starring Forest Whitaker, Marlon Wayans, Audra McDonald, Marc Maron, Tituss Burgess, Saycon Sengbloh, and Mary J. Blige, hits theatres in January, 2021.
