Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez join Los Angeles Black Lives Matter protest

Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez joined thousands of protesters at a Black Lives Matter rally in Los Angeles on Sunday (June 7, 2020), armed with posters made by her kids.

The On the Floor hitmaker and her fiance were among the stars demanding justice for George Floyd, almost two weeks after the African-American man was killed at the hands of a white police officer in Minnesota.

J.Lo documented their participation on Instagram, and revealed she had recruited her 12-year-old twins, Max and Emme, to create their signs, which read, “BLM Enough Is Enough”, and “Let’s Get Loud for Black Lives Matter” – referencing the title of the singer/actress’ 2000 single.

Explaining how their role came about, the 50-year-old wrote, “Today I had Emme and Max make me and Alex a sign for the protest. Max told me a few days ago: ‘you know mom, since you have a following like some of my YouTuber gamers and they ask us to support things and we do, you should do that for George Floyd.’ I said, ‘funny you say that baby, I am planning a few things. Do you want to help by making a sign?’ And they did!!”

The mother-of-two also shared how she had been tackling the sensitive issue of racial injustice in America with her kids.

“We talked about how if one person doesn’t have justice then no one does,” J.Lo posted. “That this country was built on the belief of freedom and justice for all. We must take a stand for what we believe in and fight against the injustices in this world. So we continue to peacefully protest until there is change. #BlackLivesMatter #GetLoud #CallingAllMamas #TeachThemYoung”.

Meanwhile, retired baseball star Rodriguez also uploaded photos of the demonstration to his Instagram account as he saluted fellow activists for their continued dedication to the cause.

“Los Angeles, we are proud to join you in peaceful protest tonight,” he captioned the shots. “We are proud to walk alongside you, and to share in spreading such an important message. Thank you for speaking up. Thank you for continuing to fight the good fight. Thank for you using your voices for good (sic).”

Other celebrities to march in Sunday’s Black Lives Matter demonstration, which attracted more than 20,000 people, included Vanessa Hudgens, Ireland Baldwin, Machine Gun Kelly, Kaia Gerber, Marlon Wayans, and Michael Rappaport.
