Biography

A self-styled cultural outlaw and motorcycle customizer-turned-basic cable celebrity, Jesse James rose to notoriety as the host of a popular reality series, only to earn the scorn of millions in the aftermath of an exceedingly tawdry extra-marital affair. After James' celebrated custom motorcycle shop West Coast Choppers became the backdrop for the series "Monster Garage" (The Discovery Channel, 2002-06), the heavily tattooed mechanic moved from niche notable to mainstream media personality, particularly after appearing as a contestant on "The Celebrity Apprentice" (NBC, 2004- ). Popular as he may have become, many were nonetheless left scratching their heads at the news of James' marriage to "America's Sweetheart," actress Sandra Bullock in 2005. As both of their careers reached respective new heights near the end of the decade, earlier concerns about James' fidelity were borne out when several women publicly claimed to have had affairs with the married man. Figuring most prominently in the rumor mill was tattoo artist and model Kat Von D, with whom James became briefly engaged to in the year after his divorce from Bullock. In hindsight, the title of his brief daredevil reality series "Jesse James is a Dead Man" (Spike, 2009), may have been oddly prophetic, as James pondered his future in the wake of the humiliating Bullock debacle.

.

In January 2009, Bullock and husband Jesse James were awarded temporary full-time custody of his daughter Sunny, following her mother's (adult film star, Janine Lindemulder) sentencing to 6 months in prison, for income tax evasion. Upon Janine Lindemulder's release from jail in October 2009, Bullock and James petitioned the court for full custody of Sunny.

He realised that this time was crucial to help himself, help his family and help save his marriage."

.

In a story posted April 28, 2010, on People magazine's website, Bullock revealed that she is adopting 3 1/2-month-old boy, Louis Bardo Bullock as a single parent. The report says Bullock and James began the adoption process four years ago and brought Louis home in January but decided to keep the news to themselves until after the Oscars.James released a statement shortly after the story was released saying: "The decision to let my wife end our marriage, and continue the adoption of Louis on her own, has been the hardest. The love I have for Louis cannot be put to words. Not having him around to love and to hold has left a huge hole in my heart. Sandy is the love of my life, but considering the pain and devastation I have caused her, it would be selfish to not let her go. Right now it is time for me to beat this addiction that has taken two of the things I love the most in life.

.

The custody battle between James and Lindemulder over their daughter, Sunny, ended on July 20, 2010, after a judge ruled that although they had joint legal custody, James had physical custody. He was allowed to take Sunny with him to Texas, near his other ex Bullock.
