Jill Scott and Estranged Husband Heading to Court in Divorce Battle

R&B singer Jill Scott and her estranged husband are reportedly set to face off in court in February (18).

The Golden star filed for divorce from Mike Dobson, her husband of almost 15 months, in September (17), citing “irreconcilable differences and inappropriate marital conduct”. She asked the judge to enforce their prenuptial agreement and filed for a restraining order, which was granted.

Dobson countersued and requested the agreement be voided because he was allegedly pressured to sign it without a lawyer. He wants their marital assets to be split, as well as $500,000 for the alleged “pain and suffering” he experienced during their marriage, and his legal fees to be covered.

The estranged couple is now heading to court over the dispute and is going to spend 15 February in a courthouse in Tennessee, according to the New York Daily News.

One of Dobson’s friends told the publication he is banned from speaking about the lawsuit due to a non-disclosure agreement, and a source added,”He’s not going to let Scott disgrace him… Michael still loves Jill. He has always felt like she’s his ‘ride or die’ throughout their relationship.”

After news of their divorce went public in November, Dobson told Bossip, “She’s an evil woman… It’s like what Jill Scott wants, Jill Scott gets. People are in her ear, and if someone comes in to challenge the dumb s**t, they made me be the bad guy and that got me outta there.”

Scott has an 8-year-old son with her ex-boyfriend, drummer Lil’ John Roberts. She was previously married to her longtime boyfriend Lyzell Williams from 2001 to 2007.
