Biography

Jimmy Slyde was an actor who had a successful Hollywood career. Slyde marked his early career with roles in "About Tap" (1985-86), "Round Midnight" (1986) with Dexter Gordon and "The Kennedy Center Honors: A Celebration of the Performing Arts" (CBS, 1987-88). Later, he acted in "Gregory Hines' Tap Dance in America" (1988-89), the Gregory Hines drama "Tap" (1989) and "Black and Blue" (PBS, 1992-93). He also appeared in "Stomp, Slide and Swing With Savion Glover" (PBS, 1998-99). More recently, Slyde appeared in "Swingin' With the Duke: Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra With Wynton Marsalis" (PBS, 1998-99).
