Biography

An accomplished thespian hailing from Scotland, Jimmy Yuill has performed on stage, television, and the big screen. Though Yuill worked with the prestigious Royal Shakespeare Company and Renaissance Theatre company located in London, his first on-screen credits are in crime and science fiction thrillers in the late 1970s. He continued finding minor roles on British crime series, such as "Eurocops" and "Square Mile of Murder". His first pivotal role was playing Jamy in the Shakespeare adaption "Henry V", starring Kenneth Branagh. The film was a critical success and won acclaim at the Academy Awards and BAFTA Film Awards. Yuill teamed up with Branagh again and starred as a friar in the Shakespeare adapted romantic comedy, "Much Ado About Nothing". In 1994, Yuill broke out as a leading man performing as the iconic Victor Frankenstein in 1994's "Frankenstein". The classic horror film had an all-star cast including Robert De Niro and Helena Bonham Carter. Yuill become a constant face on television playing a detective in the crime mystery series "Wycliffe", and stayed on the show from beginning to end for four years. He continued expanding his television presence by playing a charity trust worker in the long-running British soap opera "EastEnders". By the late 2000's, Yuill became apart of diverse film projects, such as the Soviet War era biographical drama "Within the Whirlwind" and science fiction thriller "Retreat".
