Jodie Foster Loves Mel Gibson More Than You

jodie fosterIt’s strange that Jodie Foster is still allowed to carry a SAG card these days, seeing as she spends more time defending Mel Gibson than she does acting. In the new issue of Hollywood Reporter, Foster talked a teensy bit about the Roman Polanski movie she’s shooting before she elaborated upon how much she adores her The Beaver co-star Mel, because there’s no better way to set the stage for a talk about the adoration you feel towards a certain anti-Semite who beat his ex-girlfriend than prefacing it with a little talk about a guy who gave alcohol to a child and then had “unlawful sex” with her. Of Gibson, who most recently faced misdemeanor battery charges, Foster said, “He’s so incredibly loving and sensitive, he really is. He is the most loved actor I have ever worked with on a movie. And he’s not saintly, and he’s got a big mouth, and he’ll do gross things your nephew would do. But I knew the minute I met him that I would love him for the rest of my life.” She continued: “I know him in a very complex way. He’s a real person; he’s not a cardboard cutout. I know that he has troubles, and when you love somebody you don’t just walk away when they are struggling.” Anyone else just realize that The Beaver is totally more than just another movie about dumpster diving?
