Joe Elliott: ‘Awful 2001 TV movie has wrecked any chance of a Def Leppard biopic’

Def Leppard star Joe Elliott fears a terrible 2001 TV movie has ruined the band’s chances of landing a big screen biopic.
The newly-inducted Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member would love to see his group’s story follow the likes of Bohemian Rhapsody and The Dirt – films about Queen and Motley Crue – play out at the cinema, but he insists the VH1-produced TV movie has put anyone off.
Hysteria – The Def Leppard Story detailed the band’s firing of Pete Willis, Rick Allen’s car crash, and the making of the band’s Hysteria album another things, and Elliott insists, “It’s the biggest pile of s**t ever made.”
“I doubt very much anybody would be really interesting in making another one (movie),” Elliott told Rolling Stone. “We’ll see. We’re open to anything.”
