Biography

The son of famed movie composer Jerry Goldsmith, Joel Goldsmith has created and performed music for a number of films and television series. His early career was mostly in the movies, and included the Steve Martin comedy "The Man With Two Brains", which led to more television and genre film work. From the mid-'80s through the '90s, Goldsmith's most recognized composing credits were for the suspense movie "Man's Best Friend" and the syndicated television programs "The Untouchables" and "The Outer Limits", although he did compose music for several episodes of "Diagnosis: Murder", which was broadcast on CBS. The '00s brought a slew of science-fiction work, including the television movie "Witchblade" and its subsequent series, as well as the long-running "Stargate SG-1", "Stargate: Atlantis", and "SGU Stargate Universe". Goldsmith also composed the theme music for many of these shows, and served as composer of the "Stargate" video releases "The Ark of Truth", "Continuum", and "Stargate SG-1: Children of the Gods". In addition, he has a credit as sound effects creator on "Star Trek: The Motion Picture".
