John Bradley: ‘Game of Thrones night battle shoots turned my life upside down’

Game Of Thrones star John Bradley struggled through extensive night shoots for the fantasy series’ epic Battle of Winterfell scenes, because he felt his life had been turned upside down.
The actor and his castmates filmed overnight in Ireland for 60 days to capture the drama of a fight with the army of the dead and Bradley admits he suffered more than most as his sleep patterns and social life were turned on their head.
“When you’re doing 60 night shoots and you’re going to bed at 6am and waking up at two in the afternoon and going to work again, you feel that your entire body’s been affected on a molecular level because you’re completely separated from your real life,” he tells Esquire magazine.
“When you’re up and socialising, your friends are all in bed and the other way around. When your friends are up, you’re in bed. So you find yourself being completely cut off from reality.”
But all the effort was worth it – fans raved about the epic battle scenes when they aired during Sunday’s (28Apr19) episode of Game of Thrones.
