Biography

John Butler worked in a variety of genres and built up a diverse and reputable career. Butler began his acting career appearing in various films, such as "Expensive Husbands" (1937), "Some Blondes Are Dangerous" (1937) and "Accidents Will Happen" (1938). He also appeared in the Edith Fellows drama "Pride of the Blue Grass" (1939) and "Torchy Runs For Mayor" (1939). He kept working in film throughout the forties, starring in "We Who Are Young" (1940), "Mob Town" (1941) with Billy Halop and the Nancy Kelly spy picture "Fly By Night" (1942). He also appeared in the crime adaptation "Force of Evil" (1948) with John Garfield and "Sinister Journey" (1948). During the latter part of his career, he continued to act in the fantastical comedy "It Happens Every Spring" (1949) with Ray Milland, "Between Midnight and Dawn" (1950) and "Branded" (1950) with Alan Ladd. He also appeared in the crime drama "Strangers On a Train" (1951) with Farley Granger. Most recently, Butler acted on "Six Degrees" (2006-07).
