Canadian character actor John Dunsworth plays the cynical boozer Jim Lahey on the cult comedy series "Trailer Park Boys" and in all the subsequent specials and feature films. The show, which centers on a gaggle of iconoclastic losers, booze hounds, and schemers living in a dilapidated trailer park, has become a quirky favorite for fans of oddball humor in the mockumentary vein. The character of Lahey, an ex-cop who is now the park's supervisor, is a stand-out role for a performer who started his acting career late in life. He was in his 40s before getting into the acting business, although he had done voice work as a narrator on a few documentaries in the 1980s and worked as a casting director for many years. He was also a politician, a career that was captured on film in the short documentary "John Dunsworth: The Candidate." Luckily for his fans, acting grabbed him, and he decided to pursue getting work. Away from the "Trailer Park Boys" franchise, Dunsworth has appeared on the science fiction cult series "Lexx," the family program "Pit Pony," and the paranormal drama "Haven."
