We’ve been watching the signs signaling an imminent divorce for Kim trickle along all season on Kourtney and Kim Take New York, and it all culminates in this moment (which we can show you thanks to Perez TV). Kim and Kourtney meet with famous TV medium, John Edwards, to communicate with their dead father, Robert Kardashian.
Now, I’m a bit of a skeptic when it comes to this sort of thing – and the stories about the interviews to pick out life stories and details before Edwards takes on the other worldly duties to help it get it right are too easy to find. But this time around, he doesn’t even need an interview – these ladies’ lives are written across the pages of every issue of People or Us Weekly and celebrity blogs everywhere. He asks things like, “Does Khloe have a hard time having children?” (it was widely reported that she does), “Did your dad help someone who lost a daughter?” (Robert Kardashian famously repped O.J. Simpson whose daughter drowned in the pool at age two) “Is one of you divorced?” (yes, we know that Kim was married before). For godsakes, all this information is on Wikipedia. Even so, this kooky connection sparks something in Kim. Edwards asks if she learned something from her first divorce and suddenly it clicks for her: if she and Kris can’t agree to live in the same state something’s probably wrong with the marriage. You think? Apparently, what Kim learned from her first divorce is when to decide it’s time to get a divorce.
You’d think with an entire season of reasons to break up, she wouldn’t need a medium to connect her with the spirit of her father in order to finally make that decision, but it’s television! We can’t have people making decisions with their brains. They’ve got to do things because they have sudden crying fits and mental breakdowns. Logic be damned!
