John Lennon biopic Nowhere Boy picked up for stage musical

Producers Brian and Dayna Lee have acquired the stage rights to the John Lennon biopic that helped make Aaron Taylor-Johnson a star.
His 2009 film Nowhere Boy, directed by his now-wife Sam Taylor-Johnson, is being developed as a stage musical, according to Deadline.
The film, which chronicled Lennon’s teenage years – before he found fame with the Beatles, starred Aaron as Lennon, Kristen Scott Thomas as the rocker’s Aunt Mimi, and Anne-Marie Duff as Lennon’s mother, Julia.
Brian Lee tells the outlet the project will premiere “in the next few years” in the U.K.
“As a team, we’ll be travelling to London this summer, trying to figure out the right person to bring this narrative to life,” he says, revealing Lennon’s widow, Yoko Ono, is aware of the project but has no involvement.
Just like the Nowhere Boy film, the musical will not feature music by the Beatles, but include popular songs from Lennon’s youth.
