John McCurry worked in a variety of genres and built up a diverse and reputable career. McCurry's early acting career consisted of roles in various films, such as the Mickey Rooney dramatic adaptation "The Last Mile" (1959), the dramatic adaptation "The Pawnbroker" (1965) with Rod Steiger and the dramedy "The Landlord" (1970) with Beau Bridges. He also appeared in "The Bingo Long Traveling All-Stars and Motor Kings" (1976) with Billy Dee Williams and the Fritz Weaver horror flick "Jaws of Satan" (1979). McCurry also brought characters to life with his vocal talents in "Fritz the Cat" (1972). He continued to act in productions like the horror film "Wolfen" (1981) with Albert Finney, "Deathmask" (1983) and the Dan Aykroyd comedy "Trading Places" (1983). He also appeared in "Alphabet City" (1984). McCurry had a number of different projects under his belt in the nineties through the early 2000s, including "The War" with Elijah Wood (1994), the Jason Lee and Cameron Richardson blockbuster "Alvin and the Chipmunks" (2007), "Disaster Movie" (2008), "Meet the Spartans" (2008) starring Diedrich Bader and "Sex Drive" (2008). McCurry last provided music for the comedy adaptation "Ramona and Beezus" (2010) with Joey King.
