Biography

John Prine worked on a variety of projects during his entertainment career. He appeared in a number of television specials, including "Johnny Cash's America" (1981-82), "Farm Aid IV" (The Nashville Network, 1989-1990) and "John Prine and Lyle Lovett" (1989-1990). During the early stages of his Hollywood career, Prine mainly held acting roles in films like the documentary "The Electric Valley" (1984) with Barrett Shelton. Prine also contributed music to "The Pride of Jesse Hallam" (CBS, 1980-81). He also contributed to a variety of television specials, including "Showtime Coast to Coast: American Music" (1989-1990), "Irish Music in America ... A Musical Migration" (Disney, 1993-94) and "Troubadours of Folk Music" (PBS, 1993-94). He also had roles in film during these years, including roles in the drama "Falling From Grace" (1992) with John Mellencamp. Prine also created music for "Rush" (1991) with Jason Patric. Prine's music was most recently featured in "Vince Vaughn's Wild West Comedy Show: 30 Days & 30 Nights--Hollywood to the Heartland" (2008). In the nineties through the early 2000s, Prine lent his talents to projects like "Kris Kristofferson: Songwriter" (Disney, 1994-95), "Bonnie Raitt: Road Tested" (PBS, 1995-96) and "Fire Down Below" with Steven Seagal (1997). His credits also expanded to "Sam Phillips: The Man Who Invented Rock 'n' Roll" "Daddy & Them" with Billy Bob Thornton (2001) and "Small Engine Repair" (2006) starring Iain Glen.
