Jon Hamm: I’m Not Handsome Like Brad Pitt Or Ryan Reynolds

jon hammThere’s no doubt that Jon Hamm is a good looking guy. Whether he’s strutting down Madison Avenue in 1965 or hitting up a red carpet in 2012, he manages to make the ladies swoon. But no matter how much attention he continues to receive, the Mad Men star insists he’s not worth all the hype.

“I don’t necessarily think of myself like the handsome guy,” the 41-year-old actor tells the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “That’s reserved for Brad Pitt and Ryan Reynolds and those guys.”

While a majority of the female population tend to disagree, Hamm admits that he’s not complaining. “It’s certainly nice when people say nice things about you, don’t get me wrong,” he says. “I guess I never really thought of myself that way. I just wanted to be a regular person and try to portray parts as varied as I could.”

But whether he’s willing to accept it or not, he’s a hottie and deserves all the recognition that comes his way. Speaking of which, the Golden Globe winner and six-time Emmy nominee also reflected on the whirlwind of fame that’s consumed him ever since Mad Men premiered in 2007.

“It’s a weird experience to go through something like this, especially when it happens so fast,” Hamm explains. “I live a pretty stable life. I mean, I have a relationship [with girlfriend Jennifer Westfeldt] and a house and a dog. And it’s kind of like, well, now we are living a life that has this weirdness in it. It is a strange shift.”

However, Hamm’s one major regret is the fact that his parents weren’t around to witness his breakout role. Both his mother and father died by the time he graduated from college. “I wish I could share this success with my mother and father,” he laments. “I think they’d be incredibly proud.”
