Since the mid '50s journeyman character-actor Joseph Campanella has appeared in countless television episodes and feature films. By the peak of his career in the late '70s you couldn't throw a dart at the TV Guide without hitting a show that he hadn't worked on at some point. His early career got a nudge in 1961 with occasional roles on the TV crime drama "Naked City." He gained steam a few years later with parts on "The Fugitive," "Mission: Impossible" and a starring role as Lew Wickersham the CBS detective drama "Mannix" which earned him an Emmy award nomination. He occasionally played Bonnie Franklin's ex-husband on "One Day at a Time" from 1976 to 1982 and was part of the cast on the short lived "Dynasty" spin-off "The Colbys." Campanella also put in some time on daytime television, appearing in the soap operas "Guiding Light," "Days of Our Lives," and "The Bold and the Beautiful." In the 2000s he turned to voice-over work, narrating several TV movies, PBS programs, and reciting the catchphrase "BMW...the ultimate driving machine" for a series of BMW commercials.
