Biography

A petite, dark-haired sitcom actress who has bounced around numerous shows, Julia Campbell was born an army brat and traveled and lived around the world during her youth. She was dancing and studying ballet by age four, but, while living in Turkey, was diagnosed with scoliosis at age 11. After wearing back braces and having an operation, Campbell was told she would never be able to dance professionally and switched to drama. Her first break came after college when ABC paid her way to New York and put her in the daytime drama "Ryan's Hope," although the show was soon canceled due to declining ratings.

Bonus Trivia

.

Campbell is not in love with New York. In the March 5, 1995 issue of PARADE she said of her time living there: "I didn't have many friends, and I was 21 and living in a five-floor walk-up in Hell's Kitchen. I used to have to put on sort-of psychologically protective clothing when I went out in the morning. One night on the subway all these kids recognized me and crowded around, and I had to give autographs. I appreciated the attention, but they wouldn't let me get away and I was terrified."
