June Allyson Dies

Acclaimed actress June Allyson died yesterday at her California home after a long illness. She was 88.

Allyson‘s death has been attributed to pulmonary respiratory failure and acute bronchitis, and she passed away with her husband David Ashrow at her side, according to her daughter Pamela Allyson Powell.

Allyson made her Broadway chorus-line debut in 1938 in the musical Sing Out the News.

After her appearance in the musical Best Foot Forward in 1941, she was cast in the film version and followed up with several other musicals including Two Sisters from Boston and Good News.

She also starred in The Three MusketeersLittle Women and The Glenn Miller Story.
