Justin Vernon and The National stars unveil new music gathering in Germany

Bon Iver frontman Justin Vernon and The National rockers Aaron and Bryce Dessner have joined forces to stage an epic two-day jam session in Germany.
The musicians, along with Vernon’s Gayngs bandmate Ryan Olson, conductor Andre De Ridder, and director Vincent Moon, among others, are launching a new not-for-profit event to take place in Berlin on 1 and 2 October (16).
The untitled gathering will feature 80 artists, who will all come together to perform throughout the weekend at Funkhaus studios.
No line-up schedule will be announced beforehand, and the timing and contents of each set will be a complete surprise for fans. The acts will spend time together creating and rehearsing at Funkhaus in the week leading up to the event to prepare for their shows.
“It’s about new material, collaborations, unique arrangements, and dissolving borders,” the organisers said in a statement, according to Pitchfork.com.
They claim the idea for the gathering is simply “based on friendships and relations of people that have evolved over years and the desire to put something together”.
Other stars taking part in the unique series include Bon Iver’s S. Carey and Matt McCaughan, Mouse on Mars’ Andi Toma and Jan St. Werner, Damien Rice, members of Alt-J, and My Brightest Diamond singer Shara Nova.
