Kathy Lette and Lily Allen pay tribute to literary agent Ed Victor

Author Kathy Lette and singer Lily Allen have paid tribute to renowned literary agent Ed Victor following his death on Wednesday (07Jun17).
The chairman and founder of the Ed Victor Literary Agency passed away at the London Clinic at the age of 78. He had been fighting a battle with chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL), his agency confirmed in a statement.
The literary giant represented both fiction and non-fiction and boasted former British Prime Minister David Cameron, Andrew Marr, Nigella Lawson and Sophie Dahl as clients.
Following the news of his death, stars took to social media to pay tribute including author Lette, who wrote, “Dearest Ed Victor has died. He was the Ed-ocet missile of agents. His wily wit & warmth will be dearly missed by all his devoted authors,” while Allen simply tweeted, “RIP Ed Victor,” with a waving hand emoji.
Cameron issued a statement about the “wonderful, warm and fun” Victor, describing him as an “absolute Titan of the publishing world”.
He continued, “He was at the top of his profession for decades and I was lucky to see at first hand that he was as enthusiastic about what he was doing just a few weeks ago as he was 20 years ago. He will be deeply missed.”
Alastair Campbell, who worked as former Prime Minister Tony Blair’s spokesman, also posted, “RIP Ed Victor. He was so much more than an agent. He was a great friend and guide to all his writers, and a giant of a man who loved life.”
Victor celebrated 40 years in the business in 2016, the same year he was made a Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE) for his services to literature.
