Biography

An easygoing actress who has created a career out of playing a fictional version of herself, Katie Featherston is the onscreen constant in the highly successful and reliably unsettling "Paranormal Activity" horror-film series. After college, the native Texan headed to Los Angeles and found her big break when she was cast as a main character in the inventive low-budget supernatural thriller "Paranormal Activity," which met with huge buzz upon its 2009 release. The significant box-office returns on the movie led to a steady stream of sequels, all featuring Featherston in some capacity. The franchise's mastermind, Oren Peli, also brought her aboard on episodes of his mysterious television series, "The River" (ABC, 2012), but the show was quickly cancelled. Although Featherston has appeared elsewhere, she has primarily thrived in the relative comfort zone of Peli's eerie productions.

Bonus Trivia

.

Featherston is the only actor to appear in all of the first four "Paranormal Activity" movies.

.

"It's wonderful. People stop me in the mall and the grocery store all the time and tell me how much they like the movie. Sometimes they talk about their experience seeing the movie and I think one of my favorites was this girl who was talking about her big football player boyfriend who was like cowering in fear and apparently crying because he was so scared." - from Digital Spy, Oct. 18, 2012

.

"The thing that's great about the guys in charge of ["Paranormal Activity"], they are really respectful of the franchise. Just like in the third one, they didn't put me in there just to have me in there. They made it believable and reasonable and plausible, and so I know that if they want me to be in it, then there will be a good reason. I trust that if they ask me back, I would happily be a part of this. This has become a franchise, but it's also – this sounds kind of cheesy – kind of a family. We come back every summer and do these films and I've made lifelong friends out of it." - from ET Online, Jan. 30, 2013
