Mark Kerrigan was arrested after his dad Daniel Kerrigan was found unconscious in the kitchen of the family’s home in Stoneham, Massachusetts.
The 45 year old appeared in court on Monday (25Jan10) and pleaded not guilty to charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on an elderly person and causing serious bodily injury.
He was sent to Massachusetts’ Bridgewater State Hospital for a mental evaluation and, as a result of the charges, will not be permitted to pay his last respects to Kerrigan Sr. when he is laid to rest in Stoneham on Thursday (28Jan10).

The state Department of Correction guidelines prohibit prisoners from attending funeral services.
