Kevin Smith adopts extreme diet after surviving heart attack

Director Kevin Smith has undertaken an extreme weight loss regime after surviving a heart attack last month (Feb18).
The Clerks funnyman has been on the mend since suffering from the near fatal health crisis and he is determined to drop a few pounds during his recovery.
On a new episode of his Hollywood Babble-On podcast on Wednesday (21Wed18), the 47-year-old revealed his cardiologist has advised him to lose 50 pounds and adopt a vegan diet.
The star has begun following the diet outlined by magician Penn Jillette in his book Presto!, which starts with two weeks of eating nothing but potatoes and carefully selected vegetables.
“It’s rather extreme, but it appeals to me because it dials in to certain personality traits,” Smith shared, noting he’s already shed a significant amount of weight. “It’s been essentially… nine days. And in nine days, I’ve lost 17 pounds.”
“It’s a pretty intense programme, but it’s been interesting,” he added. “And of course necessary for my health and stuff. But once I get to a decent place, then I can think about eating again. But I’ll never eat the way I used to.”
Smith has drastically altered his eating habits in the past, taking to Twitter in 2015 to share he had lost a whopping 85 pounds.
