Kim Kardashian and her two sisters, Kourtney and Khloe, are all on the cover of this month’s Glamour magazine, and its accompanying interview suggests that since Kim’s split from Kris Humphries on October 31st, she’s started to re-evaluate the way she views relationships and marriage.
After the reality star reminded us she’s always wanted to be married and have several kids by the time she was 30 (Sunday’s episode of Kourtney & Kim Take New York showed her crying about how she failed at accomplishing those goals), Kim confessed she’s now entertaining the possibility that her two sisters will be the ones with children. She said, “I always wanted what Mom and Dad had. And at first, I was like, ‘I want six kids.’ Then I went down to four… and now I’m like, ‘Maybe I won’t have any.’ Maybe I’ll just be a good aunt.” She added, “I think I’ll always be a hopeless romantic… I believe in love and the dream of having the perfect relationship, but my idea of it has changed. I think I need to not live in a fairy tale like that. I think I maybe need to just snap out of it and be a little more realistic.”
In a way, this is probably the most insightful comment Kim has ever made in her entire life. If she’s sincere, it sounds like she’s considering the idea of going forward in her life with a more relaxed attitude about love (as in, she’s going to stop calling up NBA players and offering them the opportunity to date her on her family’s television show). And it’s about time she realized “fairy tales” don’t exist because most of us reached this conclusion pretty early in our lives, when the long hair from our Unicorn My Little Ponies got stuck in the drain in the bathtub and we had to use scissors to cut them free if we wanted to keep them! And while the interview conveys Kim has made tremendous progress in learning to interpret and view the world as it actually is, we know she still has work to do because she says she’s still looking for the “perfect relationship” (which, as we all know, can only be found inside a box of toothpicks). But Kim’s clearly making headway, and that’s really all we can hope for.
