Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart: A Romance in Tabloid Covers

Twilight Romance!
Twilight Romance!
In November of 2008, as the first Twilight film hit theaters, rumors of costars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart hooking up in real life began to heat up. Life & Style immortalized the beginning of Robsten's relationship on its cover — beginning a habit that, five years later, we still haven't been able to kick.

In June of 2009, Life & Style finally declared, "It's official!" for Robsten. On a cover shared by Kate Gosselin, no less.

Life & Style picked sides a year later, pronouncing Stewart and Pattinson's relationship dunzo for the first time by saying, "Finally Rob's fed up with miserable Kristen." Seems it would take another three years for the couple to break up for real.

After two years of continued scrutiny and hypothesizing, Ok! announced in a November 2012 issue that Rob had popped the question. "How Rob surprised Kristen on set and brought her to tears," the subhead reads. Whatever happened to that wedding?

S**t hit the proverbial fan in July of 2012 when photos of Stewart cozying up to her Snow White and the Huntsman director, Rupert Sanders, surfaced. Robsten's sad fate graced the cover of all the weeklies.

Following the first plausible breakup rumor, the tabloids began to dive deep into Rob and Kristen's internal psyches. In August of 2012, Life & Style told its readers, "As a shattered Rob comes face-to-face with Kristen, he reveals the true extent of his devastation over her cruel betrayal."

And just like that, Ok! declared Robsten officially a thing again in September of 2012. Kristen vowed to "never cheat again" and the two moved in together as they forgave and forgot.

Oh wait, nevermind. In November 2012, Ok! decided that Kristen was expecting and the two would "raise the baby in England." Kristen sure hid her pregnancy well — we are now well into Kristen's second trimester and there is nary a baby bump in site.

In case you lost track, the Robsten wedding was back on as of January 2013 — at least according to Ok!. With new rumors of the couple's breakup swirling on May 20, 2013, we can only imagine the tabloid covers to come.

Abbey has been published in Dance Magazine, The Huffington Post, Time Out New York, and Popstar! magazine (where she learned more than she ever wanted to know about Justin Bieber). Abbey now lives in Brooklyn, where she spends her days watching stupid Internet videos and reading pretentious books.
