Larry Gatlin worked in a variety of genres and built up a diverse and reputable career. He also appeared in the TV movie "Murder in Music City" (1978-79). Gatlin worked in television around the start of his acting career with a role on "Austin City Limits" (1974-2015). He appeared in a number of television specials, including "Country Music Hit Parade" (1976-77) and "Merry Christmas From the Grand Ole Opry" (1979-1980). In addition to his acting, Gatlin also contributed music to "The Gospel Road" (1973) with Robert Elfstrom and the Burt Reynolds action film "Stroker Ace" (1983). He appeared in a number of television specials, including "Tennessee Ernie Ford's America" (1985-86), "The 10th Anniversary Johnny Cash Christmas Special" (1985-86) and "The 60th Anniversary of the Grand Ole Opry" (1985-86). Gatlin also created music for the action movie "Next of Kin" (1989) with Patrick Swayze. He also appeared as herself in "The Legend of O. B. Taggert" (1995). Additionally, he appeared in a number of television specials, including "Country Galaxy of Stars" (), "Marty Robbins: Super Legend" () and "Super Picnic '87" (). Most recently, Gatlin appeared in the Glen Campbell documentary "Glen Campbell: I'll Be Me" (2014).
