Lauren Conrad is ‘Too High Brow’ For MTV

Lauren ConradSorry, Lauren Conrad fans. You’ll have to stick to buying all the clothes she designs for Kohl’s and devouring her melodramatic novellas one by one for now because LC’s triumphant return to television has just hit a wall. According to MTV, she’s too classy, which is kind of like singling out one person for being too short to climb the Empire State building. (Not to knock Lauren, she has always been the classiest of The Hills ladies.)

Apparently, Conrad’s tasteful look at the world of fashion didn’t fit so nicely into a schedule full of pregnant teenagers, guidettes peeing in bars and putting their asses in refrigerators, and teens doing blow and screwing like bunnies. Go figure. Lauren’s show was meant to be inspirational; it followed her as she followed her dreams of creating a fashion line. Even so, the fully filmed series got the boot because it just didn’t go with the rest of their classless content. (Not that I’m above watching ANY of it. I have last night’s episode of Jersey Shore waiting for me at home on my DVR.)

The light at the end of this tunnel is that the show is completely done, so maybe some other “classy” channel like Oxygen or Lifetime will pick it up now.

Celebrity Editor Kelsea Stahler was born in a pile of dirt. Okay, she was actually born in an old Naval hospital in San Diego, which then became a pile of dirt and remained as such for a number of years before becoming a parking lot perfectly sized for circus tents, and finally a museum. She eventually left San Diego to attend New York University, where she studied Journalism and English literature — two less-than profitable liberal arts degrees about which guidance counselors warned her. Against all odds, she now resides in Brooklyn, where she fights the constant fear that the locals will soon discover she isn’t quite cool enough to live there, and makes a living writing absurd, pop culture features about Batman, zombies, vampires, funny people, and Ron Swanson.
