Rumanian choreographer Leon Leonidoff was a co-founder of the Isba Russe ballet company. Shortly following a performance of the troupe in New York, Leonidoff became a ballet director at the Capitol Theater and then the Roxy Theater. In 1932 he took over directorial chores at the Radio City Music Hall for many years before advancing through the ranks to become the Hall's vice-president and chief producer. In this capacity Leonidoff was known for putting on unparalleled extravaganzas. Occasionally, the choreographer also worked in film.
